Of black tea and Lim Chu Kang

Earlier today, during the madness of the afternoon sun, while Ilham and Hachi were both napping, without any warning, i broke down into an uncontrolled bout of tears. Sipping on my hot tea and reading a very good ebook that i've just purchased, my simple mind managed to wander off into this long abandoned recess. Out of thin air, my thoughts suddenly conjure an image of her. I felt my throat start to swell up.

One of the many things that ive missed not having my own car these days is the convenience to travel. I remember how i used to drive up to Lim Chu Kang Rd on my own all the way from Simei, just so that i could visit her. Deranged as it may seem, but it was one of those few places, those rare moments where i could actually find true solace. Its not so convenient these days.

Oh how i long to see her face again. How i wish Ilham could have been given the opportunity to meet her. She'd adore him. Celebrations these days dont mean much to me. Its one of the reasons why i shrugged at the idea of festivities looming in the near future. Ramadhan and Syawal. Urgh. Blasphemous? Perhaps. But given a different circumstance, i would have been the first to jump at the opportunity of a better day. Better days. I've had that.

"Vavan, jangan lupa sembahyang"

Her last few words to me.

I disappoint.

How tired I am
Of this unbearable distance between us
How I long for the toll of the recess bell
Have you forgotten me?
Grown mindless of me?
Tell me I am not
Writing into an abyss
Or that is what will become of my heart

This one is about not sucking on any dick

Just a random snippet of a conversation i had with one of my NSF,

"Encik, awak tengok tu. Semua tengah jalan-jalan, pimpin tangan dengan matair diaorang. Tengok kita tengah buat apa..."

It was Chinese New Year/Valentine's Day. So every couple in this world were either busy snogging, cuddling or yam-seng-ing while we were busy attending calls and drenching ourselves with sweat to the very core of our souls. The weather for the past few days has been quite unforgiving and we have been attending quite a number of calls to match. No details shall be spared of course but lets just say that we've been quite busy as of late.

I wrote on twitter a few days back about the movie Hancock and how that show somehow actually inspired me to write this entry. Well, what could possibly be the relation between this fictatious superhero and me? Well, lets see. Firstly, he is an asshole. He couldn't give a damn about manners, good impressions or basic courtesy. He has a drinking problem and nobody likes him. But at the end of the day, he gets the job done. He helps people. Yah, he doesn't do it in the most inconspicuous manner. But the fact was that the city needed him and without him, slowly and subtly, everything starts to fall apart. But the people around him didnt realise that till nearing the end. All they see is some low life scum, making a mess of everything. They thought that they could have done a better job and that they could have made it without him.

Simply put, Hancock GETS THE JOB DONE, but everyone hates him because he doesnt go around sucking on everybody's dick. Ring a bell yet?

Heres some pictures of people that I personally know, who won't suck any dick for anybody, who doesn't give a shit about what YOU think, but yet at the end of the day, still manage to save your burning ass even when your dirty mouth is still busy spewing complains about them.

Pasar Geylang

Hey good people of the world wide web, whom most of which i have never met before. I am back. I have been busy; very busy. Busy with work, busy with life. All thanks to Twitter and also the convenience of mobile data plans, i seem to have neglected my blog for quite a while. Alas, i will try to keep the dedication going strong in the next few weeks or so (i hope). Here are some random snapshots that ive taken during my recent quest to survive all the domineering makciks and ah-sohs in Geylang Serai.

This one is about being grateful

To all my relatives, friends and colleagues etc. My wife and i would like to thank each and everyone of you for gracing our ceremony today. No words could possibly express how happy you have made us feel today. I just wanna extend my fullest gratitude to all for coming, for helping out my parents, for writing in my guestbook, for eating, for performing silat, for setting up the sound system in the middle of the nite, for breaking my table, for making the bunga on my samping, for being my driver, for being my relief driver, for being the bestest best man, for being my mom and my dad, for being my aunties and uncles and wonderful cousins, for being the ahpek giler bawah blok yang ambik gambar kita. Thank you so much for everything. Thank you thank you thank you

Dunno who sia...

A cover of ST12's song - Jangan pernah berubah. Nice song. Hate the singer. Dunno who also. And he needs to put on some clothes

A Firefighter's Prayer

When I am called to duty, God,
wherever flames may rage,
give me strength to save a life,
whatever be its age.

Help me embrace a little child
before it is too late,
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert,
and hear the weakest shout,
quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling,
to give the best in me,
to guard my friend and neighbor,
and protect his property.

And if according to Your will
I must answer death's call,
bless with Your protecting hand,
my family one and all.

This one is about being kemaruk

Tonight you belong to me

Zabid and Farizah

Zabid and Farizah has finally tied the knot yesterday. This couple has been an item since like forever and im really really glad to see the both of them eventually seated on the same pelamin together. This event has also led to the congregation of good old friends; friends that i dont have the luxury of meeting every single day but yet still boleh harap in times of need.

Good luck Zab. Enjoy your next step in life.

This one is about Twitterrrific

Recently ive been playing around with twitterrific and i found out that this application provides a couple of sites that you can choose to upload either your pictures or your videos. I'm only using the free version of this application and the specs and reviews might not be applicable to the paid version. The four combination for you to choose from are:

Yfrog
Twitpic/Twitvid
Posterous
Twitgoo/Twitvid

I tested them to find out which of this four combination would provide me with the most original/close to the original image and video quality, reliability, speed and also the ease of use. And this was what i found out.

Yfrog
Uploading is quite fast and it is quite hassle free. After the image/video has been uploaded, i went back to check on it and everything is working fine. The only thing that i didnt like about yfrog was that the video has probably been compressed (nothing surprising) so much that the quality of the video has been severely reduced. An example of a video that ive uploaded to yfrog can be seen here.

Twitpic/Twitvid Combo
I love twitpic. Out of the four, i feel twitpic is the easiest to use and theres really nothing much that you can find fault with. Uploading and downloading speeds are constant and the best part is that when i go back to try and take a look at my uploaded images, IT'S THERE! Wohoo.

Unfortunately, i cant say the same about Twitvid. i tried uploading a couple of videos of different sizes and this was what i got.

I thought perhaps something might be wrong with their server, lets cut them some slack and try again later. So i waited for a few hours to try my luck at it again. After waiting for a few hours, i uploaded a different video and this time round, this was what i got.

So bloody annoying lah can.

Posterous

Posterous was easy to use. Their site is very clean. Well, their site looks like a page from another blog actually. Uploading speed was normal but when you are downloading to view the video, it can get quite slow sometimes. But then again, so does Youtube right? The only thing that bugs me about posterous is that the moment you upload a video, your twitter info page will automatically be updated but your video at Posterous would still not be ready yet. It takes around 3-5 minutes for them to finally "release" it for your viewing. That, in my opinion is making the Twitter experience pretty much redundant dont you think? People want up to date info, right at the moment when you click on the word "UPDATE"; not 3-5 minutes later.

Twitgoo/Twitvid Combo

Well, let's just say i didnt even bother with this one; all thanks to twitvid.

So whats the final verdict? Right now, i should say im just settling for Yfrog. Though the video quality is not that good, but it is reliable and that, in itself, goes a long way. I love twitpic too but within Twitterrific, you cannot do without the other. Maybe today is just a bad day for Twitvid and maybe i was wrong. But lets just say that today, they didnt manage to impress me and first impressions do matter.

SNSD - Chocolate love

OMG! They're back, this time round they are promoting the new phone from LG i think. Really, im not too sure. So dont quote me on that one. But one things for sure, they have a cool new music video. The song's not that catchy but then who the hell is listening... ;p

The one at the Whopper Bar

Jalan-jalan right after work seems to be my favourite practice these days. A few shifts back it was underwear shopping at Ion. Today it was gym, followed by brunch at the Whopper Bar. I like going out right after work; especially on a week day. Hassle free, not that many people around and i can actually take my own bloody sweet time to do whatever that i want. So there we were, yet again; Muhaimin, Amer and me walking through Clarke Quay to find the elusive Whopper Bar. When we finally found it, i was ecstatic. It was so nice, i really like the ambience of the place. Everything's all black and red and at certain tables they have ports for you to plug in your ipod/iphone for you to listen to your own music but ours didnt seem to work.

This is Muhaimin, ordering his food. He got the Tendergrill Double, with cheese, nachos and some other stuff that i cant remember.

Yummy...

And here is what Amer ordered; a triple whopper with nachos, no lettuce and bbq sauce i think. Super filling. I dont think i can stomache that.

And lastly, this was what I ordered; a double whopper with American cheese, mushrooms, onion rings and jalapenos. Just like how i like it; disgusting. Hehehe. It was very nice lah, ok.

This is Sheesha-ing

Do you know that smoking sheesha is equivalent to smoking 18 ciggies? Well, if you give a shit (unlike me), you can read more of the article over here.
And if you dont, you can watch more free porn over here.
