This one is about not sucking on any dick

Just a random snippet of a conversation i had with one of my NSF,

"Encik, awak tengok tu. Semua tengah jalan-jalan, pimpin tangan dengan matair diaorang. Tengok kita tengah buat apa..."

It was Chinese New Year/Valentine's Day. So every couple in this world were either busy snogging, cuddling or yam-seng-ing while we were busy attending calls and drenching ourselves with sweat to the very core of our souls. The weather for the past few days has been quite unforgiving and we have been attending quite a number of calls to match. No details shall be spared of course but lets just say that we've been quite busy as of late.

I wrote on twitter a few days back about the movie Hancock and how that show somehow actually inspired me to write this entry. Well, what could possibly be the relation between this fictatious superhero and me? Well, lets see. Firstly, he is an asshole. He couldn't give a damn about manners, good impressions or basic courtesy. He has a drinking problem and nobody likes him. But at the end of the day, he gets the job done. He helps people. Yah, he doesn't do it in the most inconspicuous manner. But the fact was that the city needed him and without him, slowly and subtly, everything starts to fall apart. But the people around him didnt realise that till nearing the end. All they see is some low life scum, making a mess of everything. They thought that they could have done a better job and that they could have made it without him.

Simply put, Hancock GETS THE JOB DONE, but everyone hates him because he doesnt go around sucking on everybody's dick. Ring a bell yet?

Heres some pictures of people that I personally know, who won't suck any dick for anybody, who doesn't give a shit about what YOU think, but yet at the end of the day, still manage to save your burning ass even when your dirty mouth is still busy spewing complains about them.

The one at the Whopper Bar

Jalan-jalan right after work seems to be my favourite practice these days. A few shifts back it was underwear shopping at Ion. Today it was gym, followed by brunch at the Whopper Bar. I like going out right after work; especially on a week day. Hassle free, not that many people around and i can actually take my own bloody sweet time to do whatever that i want. So there we were, yet again; Muhaimin, Amer and me walking through Clarke Quay to find the elusive Whopper Bar. When we finally found it, i was ecstatic. It was so nice, i really like the ambience of the place. Everything's all black and red and at certain tables they have ports for you to plug in your ipod/iphone for you to listen to your own music but ours didnt seem to work.

This is Muhaimin, ordering his food. He got the Tendergrill Double, with cheese, nachos and some other stuff that i cant remember.

Yummy...

And here is what Amer ordered; a triple whopper with nachos, no lettuce and bbq sauce i think. Super filling. I dont think i can stomache that.

And lastly, this was what I ordered; a double whopper with American cheese, mushrooms, onion rings and jalapenos. Just like how i like it; disgusting. Hehehe. It was very nice lah, ok.

September randoms

So this is it; the first time ive taken out my DSLR this month. It was Zul, Nazri and Rok's last shift at the station. And it was quite a solemn affair. Its hard for me to reinterpret someone whom ive always perceived as harsh and cold when he starts to break down and cry. My brains just cant figure that out fast enough. And within all matter of confusion, ive realized that nothing is ever permanent in this force. Change is an inevitable fate that we must all embrace. When Zul gave his farewell speech, everyone was silent. It was as if a huge boulder had been rested on our shoulders. Now the spotlight's on us; i know. Now it is our turn to shine. But do i really want to? I dont think so. Those are big shoes that i need to fill...

PS: This pics are just some of the photos that were taken that day. For the rest of the album, have a look at Stnone_Rone's account on Facebook.

Nasi Ayam Penyet

My last shift was filled yet again with good food and happy endings. This time round it was Fairuz who had requested his mom's assistance in making her secret nasi ayam penyet sambal to be shared by the many hungry men back at the station. I cant describe to you how nice the sambal was. A tat too hot for my liking (and that is saying a lot coming from a chili fanatic) but undeniably nice. Alfie was the one who went to the market to get the fresh chicken despite recently injuring his arm. Your help much appreciated.

We were a bit late for this iftar, so everyone had to share the initial batch of chicken that had already been fried. The rice was very fragrant. What was in it again Fairuz? Chicken stock and??? Cant remember. But it was very nice and sweet smelling. Muhaimin also contributed with his now famous Bandung Urat. There was this joke at the dinner table about how these 2 should put their biceps together and open up their own bussiness. The chicks will just come, if not for the food, it'll be for the eye candy. Im not a fan of the male body, so i wont comment any futher. But all i can say is that dinner was really satisfying.

Last shift, we also had to bear the bad news as 2 of my most favourite firefighters are leaving the station. 2 years had come and go in the blink of an eye and today, Nazri and Rok will be dekitting their stuff just before they ORD. Sucky. Risked our lifes together. And now they're gone.

Next shift, yet another one will be leaving the station and this time round, its gonna be a regular...

100th Year Celebration

The year was 1909 when it was first erected and right up till this very day, the firefighters in Central Fire Station have been keeping themselves busy so that you can sleep peacefully at night. Kudos to my seniors; the forefathers whom have set the standards sky high for us, the younger generation to live up to.

It was such a grand affair; the food was great, the video presentation was very insightful (i saw the firefighters from the fire service era in action) and there were a lot of VIPs that were invited. We, the station residents almost got lost in the wave of these VIPs. They had a live feed shot from the Excelsior and the Grand Plaza Park Royal Hotel of the facade of the station. When it was time to mark the start of the celebration, the guest of honour, Minister of Law, Mr K Shanmugam was given the honour of "lighting up" the entire station. The building almost look like a Christmas tree. But it was nice. But the Cordon Bleu Chicken was nicer... ;p

PS: Central FS was actually bombed during the 2nd World War. Not once, not twice, but thrice. But being the kepala batu* that we firefighters naturally are, we're still standing. Beat that!

*Malay for stubborn.

Air Pistol Comp

We did it. We won them all, well almost all. We won 4 out of 5 categories to take up the overall champion spot. So what now? Back to work, what else...
